"...They found the Child with Mary his Mother and falling down, they adored him. And opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold, frankincense, and myrrh. ...They went back another way..." - Matthew 2
When we find Him in adoration, we, like the wise men, are to go away a different way. Spending time in His presence, we are changed by Him. Called by obedience from His physical presence, we leave our hearts with Him, and going forth, we go about our daily duties in a new way, His way. We offer Him each day the gold of our poverty (for He is our sole Treasure), the frankincense of our chastity (for we are offered up fully for and to Him), and the myrrh of our obedience (for as this spice makes the bitterness of death sweet, obedience makes our daily death to self sweet for Him). On this feast, we adore the infant King enthroned on His Mother's lap, exalted in her arms. We ask the wise men, and His Sinless Seat of Wisdom, for their intercession that we might receive the grace of His appearance and respond with the adoration of love. Sweet Infant Jesus, teach us to love Thee!Ye Three Holy Kings, pray for us, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.Comments are closed.
