Nothing Too Small

Following the method of St. Louis Marie de Montfort, we pray for "love of God and fervor in Thy service" each time with meditate upon the First Glorious Mystery, the Resurrection. This fervor finds manifestation in innumerable ways - big and small - in our daily life. Done for love of God, no work is too small to offer Him.

Good St. Joseph is an excellent model in sanctifying everything - small or large, mundane or spectacular - in service to God. St. Joseph, "is the proof that in order to be a good and genuine follower of Christ, there is no need of great things-it is enough to have the common, simple and human virtues, but they need to be true and authentic" (Pope Leo XIII). 

Each day, we express our fervor in the service of God through our apostolic adventures, but it is expressed as fervently in the little domestic duties of our hidden Nazareth: pulling weeds, doing dishes, making meals, sweeping, dusting, mopping, and all those little skills that add beauty to chapel and convent.

One of our Sisters is quite talented in making traditional pysanka easter eggs. Although they are "only" used one week of the year - the Easter octave - and "only" delight a small audience - the Sisters - each year, lovely new patterns appear. Skillfully, Sister carefully blows out the eggs, creates her pattern, and with seemingly effortless ease, produces a charming addition to the convent decor. Each egg is quite small, each pattern even smaller, yet done for love of the Divine Bridegroom, they are not too small a gift for Him who chose to become small to confound the strong.
