Monthly Devotion: The Divine Infant

As the Advent season begins and the gaze of our hearts turn towards the coming of the Messiah, Holy Mother Church centers this month's devotion on the Divine Infant Jesus. 

We contemplate the humility of God, Who has taken upon Himself the nature of an innocent and delicate Child. We marvel at the dependency God has allowed Himself to have upon the Blessed Mother, granting her the title of the Mother of the Lord. We ponder at how the Protector of all mankind allowed Himself to be a vulnerable Babe, relying on the protection of St. Joseph. 

May the Divine Infant obtain for us the grace of humility, a dependency on Mary as our Mother, and a confidence in the protection of St. Joseph - the protector of Holy Mother Church. 

Prayer to the Divine Child Jesus

​O Divine Child Jesus, I come before You, moved by love and by hope; and I beg You to look mercifully into my troubled heart. Let Your own tender Love, always inclined to compassion, mitigate my troubles and alleviate my sufferings. Take from me, if it be Your Will, all unbearable afflictions; and let me never surrender to despair. Grant me, dear Child Jesus, the special grace I ask from You today in all humility and with a loving trust; and for the sake of Your Sacred Childhood, always hear my prayers.
