Monthly Devotion: Precious Blood of Jesus

"This is My blood of the covenant,
​which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."
Matthew 26: 28

The month of the Precious Blood of Jesus beautifully flows forth from the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. As the side of Christ was pierced with a lance, out gushed blood and water, from which (as the early Fathers say) came the birth of the Church and the Holy Sacraments. Indeed, it is also by the shedding of the Spotless Lamb's blood that our sins are forgiven and our redemption purchased. Every single drop of the Precious Blood contains in It the entirety of the Life and Love of God; His very Self is fully contained in a single droplet from the Precious Chalice.

Praised be Your Precious Blood, O Jesus Christ, ​which, continually pouring forth from Your side, saves us!

Holy Card Heaven

O Almighty and Eternal God, You willed that the world should be redeemed and the sins of man atoned for by the shedding of the Blood of Your Only-Begotten Son. May we on this solemn feast pay fitting honor to the Precious Blood that was the price of our salvation; may that Blood defend us against the evils of our present life so that we may enjoy its everlasting fruit in heaven.
