“Stay with us Lord, for it is almost evening" (Luke 24:29). We are in the period of time between the Ascension and Pentecost – marveling at our Lord’s Divinity and Humanity in glory with the Father in Heaven, and awaiting the promised Advocate. As the Easter season, replete with the glorious mysteries of our Lord’s life, draws soon to its close our prayer too is for our Lord to remain with us. Of course, He is with us! The Holy Spirit descended upon the infant Church that first Pentecost Sunday, confirming the apostles and disciples gathered in prayer with Mary in the Cenacle. Wherever one Person of the Trinity is at work, there is the Trinity – Three distinct Persons perfectly united in One God. The Acts of the Apostles also tells us that the Early Church frequently gathered for the “breaking of the bread”, the Eucharistic banquet our Lord gave His priests on Holy Thursday. From the earliest days of the Church the risen and glorified Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ has been made present in the Eucharist and received in the hearts of the faithful. Truly our Lord is with us as He was with His disciples on the way to Emmaus. Several of our Sisters are looking forward to celebrating these great truths of our Faith in a special way this Pentecost Sunday. We will be joining other pilgrims for Mass with Archbishop Cordileone in San Francisco at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption and then walking the first stage of the St. Junipero Serra western route of the National Eucharistic Procession. Please join us in prayer for the spiritual success of the National Eucharistic Procession and Revival! Veni Sancte Spiritus, reple tuorum corda fidelium!
Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us! Comments are closed.
