In His Likeness

"...the purpose of consecrated life is conformity to Christ in His gift of self..."

After Jesus called His disciples, He spent a good deal of time patiently working to form them to follow in His footsteps and to bear His likeness to the world. In the same manner, souls consecrated to Christ embark on a life time journey of formation, the purpose of which is gradual identification with Christ.

Formation is broad in scope - it begins with the first stirrings of the heart of a young woman toward Christ and continues until her last breath. The life of a Sister is a life of constantly being called and continually responding. This response takes place in ever changing life situations and has two broad aspects: first, discernment of the capacity to live consecrated life, and secondly, receptivity to the formation of the life itself.

With identification with Christ as the goal, ongoing formation assists the Sister to deepen her discipleship with Christ, grow in spousal union, and further her configuration with Him. To be effective, this process must be based on ongoing conversion. With our vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, we vow the putting on of Christ in His poverty, chastity, and obedience as the essential pursuit of our lives.

We pray that through the loving guidance of Mary, Model and Formator of Religious, we would be formed into the image and likeness of Jesus, her Divine Son.
