I Have Found Him Whom My Heart Loves

First Profession of Vows of Sr. Mary Victoria of Our Sorrowful Mother and Sr. Michelle Marie of Our Lady, Queen of the Angels

"​Lord, look upon these religious who wish to imitate Your Son more closely by professing the evangelical counsels in the presence of Your Church today.  Mercifully grant that their manner of life may bring glory to Your name and further Your loving plan of redemption.  We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen."

Having completed their initial formation in our community, the senior novices - Sr. Mary Victoria of Our Sorrowful Mother and Sr. Michelle Marie of Our Lady, Queen of the Angels - vowed poverty, chastity, and obedience as Marian Sisters of Santa Rosa on Thursday, May 31, the feast of the Visitation. 

​Sometimes called "temporary vows", this first profession of vows, although made for a year and then renewed for three years according to the law of the Church and the custom of the community, is freely made with the intention of lifetime perseverance in this way of life. The vows, first or final, are a joyful expression of the Sister's response to the gracious gift of God in calling her specially to Himself and a glad acceptance of the call to follow Christ more closely. Inspired by a desire to be freed from the concerns of the world to be totally given to the worship of God and His service, the Sisters make vows that cover "whole of life: possessions, affections, autonomy" (EE 15).
