There are few things that bring more joy in Community life than sharing in each other's joy. On the feast of Mary, Help of Christians, we collectively entered into the joy of Sister Mary Catherine of Mary, Mother of the Church and Sister Mary Emmanuel of Mary, Cause of Our Joy as they made their first profession of vows.
After professing their vows, the Sisters received the emblems of profession: the blue veil and the silver ring. Blessed by the Bishop, the veil signifies their religious consecration, and is to be an emblem of humility and separation from the world. As the Bishop presents the blue veil to the newly professed, he exhorts her, "Receive this veil which proclaims that you belong entirely to Christ the Lord in the service of the Church. In imitation of your Immaculate Mother Mary may you be an image of the Church: wholly given in humility of heart to Christ who is loved above all others."
