"I will take up the chalice of salvation, and I will call upon the name of the Lord!"
The chalice and paten waiting at the back of the chapel before Mass Unlike the Extraordinary Form where the consecration of a chalice and paten are reserved for the Bishop, in the Ordinary Form the priest himself has the ability to consecrate his chalice. The chalice was brought forward at the Offertory; Father prayed the prayer of consecration and incensed the chalice while the scola chanted, "Credidi propter quod locutus sum: ego autem humiliatus sum nimis...Quid retribuam Domino, pro omnibus, quua retribuit mihi? Calicem salutaris accipiam: et nomen Domini invocabo..." (Ps 116). The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass proceeded, as the Sisters with grateful hearts adored our Spouse in His sacramental Presence, thanking Him for His self-gift, for the gift of our Chaplain, for those who enabled him to have this gift, and for those who made this chalice for God's glory and the salvation of souls.
