By the law of the Church and by our Constitutions, the Sisters are required to take an annual period of retreat. A time for deeper silence and increased recollection, our retreat allows each Sister to pull back from the routine of daily life, to reassess one's spiritual situation, and to prepare for more vigorous battle against the opposing forces of the world, the flesh, and the devil. While it may provide the opportunity for physical rest, it more typically offers opportunity for spiritual battle, as the increased silence allows our Lord to more clearly indicate to each soul the sacrifices of the path to intimate union with Himself.
It is a special time of preparation for those Sisters preparing for Clothing, First Profession of Vows, and Renewal of Vows. This year, we were blessed to have conferences from several of the priests of the Diocese on the gift of our vocation, our call to ardent charity and fidelity to the interior life in the apostolate, and living our life under Our Lady's gracious patronage.
