With Thanksgiving

​As we give thanks to Almighty God for His many gifts in 2025, there are a few highlights from the past couple months that we would like to share. 

​Our Thanksgiving week was most unusual this year. While we raised our hearts in thanksgiving to God in prayer and enjoyed the blessing of community at the Thanksgiving meal, we also welcomed a special visitor from the Theology of the Body Institute. Jen Settle, a consecrated virgin working with the Institute, graciously agreed to spend her Thanksgiving week with our community and gave us the gift of

twenty-two hours of class on St. John Paul II's Theology of the Body specifically designed for consecrated women. It an was an intensive week, but very enriching.

​It was a blessing to begin teaching at St. John's Catholic School this past semester. Our Sisters help enrich the student's participation in and understanding of the Mass as well as prepare them to engage musically in the Liturgy. The Sisters also lead a children's choir which sings at special Masses throughout the year. The best part of this new apostolate is the opportunity to be present to so many children as a Sister, striving to be an example of Jesus and Mary's tender love for each of them.

Our students in the Cathedral's Parish School of Religion experienced a few special events recently. In October, the older students were invited to participate in the Rosary Challenge. They each received a rosary "pledge card" and were invited to pledge a certain amount of rosaries for the month. Completed pledge cards could be entered in a raffle to win a special prize! All the Confirmation students received a Miraculous Medal during a beautiful Miraculous Medal investiture 

ceremony. We pray that this powerful medal which each of our Sisters wears around her neck may help bring these students closer to Our Blessed Mother.

​We are excited to be increasing our presence up North in Ferndale. In December, some of our Sisters were able to join the Cal-Poly Humboldt Newman Center students in caroling for those home-bound and elderly. We also continue to help teach the Assumption parish catechism students prepare for their Confirmation.

We entered the new year with all-night adoration and then celebrated the great feast of Mary, Mother of God on January 1st. Soon afterward on January 4th, we joyfully celebrated our community's 14th anniversary with a beautiful Mass and lovely meals and games together. ​
