The Luminous Mysteries

Between the Joyful and Sorrowful mysteries chronologically lie the Luminous, as between Christmas and Lent we celebrate the Our Lord's Baptism and hear of His public ministry in the Gospels at Mass. This is a beautiful time of the year to reflect upon the "Mysteries of Light" from Our Lord's life.

​The Baptism in the Jordan

​We offer Thee, O Lord Jesus, this decade in honor of Baptism in the Jordan; and we ask of Thee, through this mystery, and through the intercession of Thy holy Mother, the grace of fidelity. Amen.

“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased” (Mt 3:17).

This must of been a beautiful moment for Our Lord, to hear the voice of His Father calling Him "My beloved Son." At our baptism, we also are given that wondrous identity as a beloved son or daughter of God the Father. What an incomprehensible blessing it is to call God "Father"!

The Wedding Feast at Cana

We offer Thee, O Lord Jesus, this decade in honor of Thy self-manifestation at the wedding feast at Cana; and we ask of Thee, through this mystery, and through the intercession of Thy holy Mother, the grace of obedience to the will of God. Amen.

​“His mother said to the servers, 'Do whatever he tells you'.” (Jn 2:5)

These last recorded words of Our Lady are a precious treasure to keep in our hearts. She is always near to help us, and we know her guidance is unfailing because she is ever pointing to her Divine Son.

The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God

​We offer Thee, O Lord Jesus, this decade in honor of Thy proclamation of the Kingdom of God; and we ask of Thee, through this mystery, and through the intercession of Thy holy Mother, the grace of conversion of life. Amen.

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy" (Mt 5:7).

In His proclamation of the Kingdom of Heaven, Our Lord always led by example and was sustained by deep prayer, an intimate and ongoing dialogue with His Father. Let us follow in His footsteps in our work of evangelization.

The Transfiguration

​We offer Thee, O Lord Jesus, this decade in honor of Thy Transfiguration on Mount Tabor; and we ask of Thee, through this mystery, and through the intercession of Thy holy Mother, the grace of attentiveness to God’s Word. Amen.

“His face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light" (Mt 17:2).

Whether He is shining in glory or His features are marred beyond recognition, whether on Tabor or Golgotha, Our Lord's love for us never changes. May we always stay close to Him!

The Institution of the Eucharist

We offer Thee, O Lord Jesus, this decade in honor of Thy Institution of the Sacrament of the Eucharist; and we ask of Thee, through this mystery, and through the intercession of Thy holy Mother, a spirit of profound adoration. Amen.

“This is my body, which will be given for you” (Lk 22:19).

What gift is as great as this? Our Lord gives us Himself, His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Holy Eucharist. May we never cease to marvel at this mystery of God's love for us and His Eucharistic Presence.
