Have you ever wondered what it would be like to know Jesus as well as Our Lady knew Him? To understand and share in His life as she did? Today, October 7th, is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary and a special day to renew our devotion and love for this prayer. Our Lady participated deeply in Our Lord’s life from the Annunciation throughout His life on earth and continuing still with Him in Heaven. When Christ gave us Mary as our Mother, He invited us to share in their special relationship. Our Blessed Mother wants to share with us her own intimate knowledge and love of Christ. Towards this end, we have been given the Rosary, a beautiful contemplative prayer in which we ponder Jesus with Mary. “Among creatures no one knows Christ better than Mary; no one can introduce us to a profound knowledge of his mystery better than his Mother.” –Rosarium Virginis Mariae As Marian Sisters, the Rosary is an important part of our daily life. It is a key means by which we come to know our beloved Spouse and His Mother. This way of walking with Jesus and Mary not only helps us unite the events of our day with those of Jesus but also brings His life into ours. Kneeling, sitting, or walking, in Chapel, in nature or in the car, the Sisters ponder Our Lord’s life bead after bead and by God’s grace there begins to be a mysterious melding of our life with His. Every Sunday our Sisters gather for a special communal rosary in our Chapel. We begin with a prayer that one of our community’s patrons, St. Louis Marie de Montfort, composed. St. Louis' great love for the Blessed Mother flowered into a great devotion to the Rosary, as evident in his prayer below. “I unite with all the saints in heaven, with all the just on earth, and with all the faithful here present. I unite with Thee, O my Jesus, in order to praise worthily Thy holy Mother and to praise Thee in her and through her. I renounce all distractions that I may have during this Rosary, which I wish to say with modesty, attention, and devotion, just as if it were to be the last of my life.
We offer Thee, O most Holy Trinity, this Creed in honor of all the mysteries of our Faith; this Our Father and these three Hail Marys in honor of the unity of Thy Essence and the Trinity of Thy Persons. We ask of Thee a lively faith, a firm hope and an ardent charity. Amen.” Comments are closed.
