October in Review

October is a month full of feast days and packed with activity for our Sisters. Thanks be to God for His blessings and graces which sustained all of these adventures!

In the beginning of the month, the Sisters were delighted to invite their 6th to 12th grade students from the Cathedral's Parish School of Religion to a service day at the Convent. After visiting Our Lord in the Convent chapel, the students divided into groups and spread out across our grounds with various tasks. The students worked hard all morning. Some raked and others trimmed and still others helped load yard debris into the truck. A group of the older students were able to build a shrine for our Sacred Heart statue! 

During the lunch break there were games, sports, and some of students hiked up to our cross in the "Back 40" and enjoyed the view. The Sisters are very grateful for all the wonderful help the students provided and for the beautiful weather that Our Lord arranged!

The next weekend, several of the Sisters were able to once again sing for the annual Santa Rosa Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Mass and attend the luncheon afterwards. This event honors one woman from each parish who has been chosen for her notable service to the Church. Bishop Vasa presided at Mass and commended the women for their good works, while exhorting them to fidelity in prayer.

Thank you to all who attended the Pasta Feed, generously hosted by the Sonoma Knights of Columbus. The Sisters were delighted to spend time with old friends and meet many new ones! The evening was filled with good food, wonderful conversations, and some musical entertainment. 

We were very blessed to be visited by Fr. Thomas Nelson, O. Praem this month. His ongoing guidance in religious life is of invaluable assistance to our community. During his stay, he began teaching our Sisters a course on the Spiritual life.

This past weekend, a couple of our Sisters traveled up to Ferndale. They only stayed a few days but had many apostolic adventures during the trip. From a 7th grade retreat and visiting Newman Center students, to teaching Confirmation class and singing at Mass, the Sisters loved witnessing to Christ in the northern part of our diocese.
