"God the Father wishes Mary to be the mother of His children until the end of time ..." True Devotion #29 Mother's Day in the convent brings about a thrice-fold thanksgiving in the heart of every Sister.
The apparitions of Our Blessed Mother retain a special place of honor within our Marian community, as we strive to practice all she requested.
Last weekend we said goodbye to our dear friend "Al" - also known as the "Alleluia". During the season of Septuagesima, the Church bids farewell to this glorious word and removes it from the Sacred Liturgy because it is so closely untied to the mystery of our Lord's Resurrection.
Last Saturday, on the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lady in the temple, we witnessed the most awe-inspiring profession of perpetual vows of Sr. Mary Vianney, MSSR and Sr. Caritas Marie, MSSR. Heaven was rejoicing as Jesus gained two beautiful brides for eternity. Join us in rejoicing with the angels and thanking God for His abundant blessings! Perpetual Profession SlideshowO Jesus, present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar, come into my heart! These sweet words to the heart of Jesus was frequently heard resounding from the lips of little ones. Last weekend, our sisters had the wonderful opportunity of traveling to Fort Bragg - in the spirit of Our Lady's Visitation - to bring back Magnificat Days to the parish of Our Lady of Good Counsel.
"Grant we beseech Thee, O Almighty God, that we, who in our affliction put our trust in Thy mercy, may ever be defended by Thy protection against all adversity.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who lives and reigns with Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen." - Collect of the Mass of Rogation One of the gifts of Holy Mother Church to her children is the gift of the Octave. For high liturgical feasts such as Christmas and Easter, the feast is so splendid, so marvelous that one day is not sufficient to celebrate! Even more particular to the Octave is the fact that each day is celebrated as equally to the feast. During the Easter Octave, for example, every day is celebrated as the day of Christ's Resurrection.
One of the greatest joys for any diocese is the day a young man is ordained to the Sacred Order of the Holy Priesthood. Today, the Diocese of Santa Rosa receives that exact joy as two young men will give their lives completely to God in the Sacrament of Holy Orders, where by they will receive the precious, indelible mark upon their souls, making them priests of Jesus Christ forever.
Last Sunday we celebrated the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord and the Purification of Mary - Jesus Who is the Light revealed to the nations, and Our Lady who is the pure reflection of this light. But now, as Septuagesima begins, we follow Christ, "the Light of men" into the darkness.
Hodie Christus natus est hodie
Salvator apparuit: hodie in terra canunt Angeli, laetantur Archangeli: hodie exsultant justi, dicentes: Gloria in excelsis Deo, alleluja. Today is Christ born; today the Savior has appeared; today the Angels sing, the Archangels rejoice; today the righteous rejoice, saying: Glory to God in the highest. Alleluia!
