Barely two years after the devastating fires that consumed neighborhoods in Santa Rosa and the surrounding areas, the area is again threatened by fire. By God's providence, the Community is safe and able to continue our life of prayer and sacrifice on behalf of those more directly in the fire's path. While almost all of our external apostolates - the fruit of our life of union with God - are closed due to the conditions, the essentials of our life remain consistent and regulated by the horarium. The horarium supports an atmosphere of recollection, peace and order, and an evangelical life of discipline which are conducive to following Christ according to our vows. Judicious adaptations have been made for the circumstances: fluctuating air quality indicated the prudence of shifting our usual chanted Offices to silent prayer in common, Sisters who are usually serving elsewhere are giving Sister Cook a well-deserved break, there has been plenty of debris from the wind to clean up, etc.
