St. Joseph is also a particular model for our religious community. We are, by the essential elements of our charism, a Marian, Ecclesial, and Eucharistic community. These facets of our spirit find expression in, among other areas: our total consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary, daily Eucharistic Adoration, and praying for priests, respectively. In each of these, we can look to St. Joseph to learn how to live our consecrated lives in a way most pleasing to Our Beloved Jesus.
Last Saturday, on the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lady in the temple, we witnessed the most awe-inspiring profession of perpetual vows of Sr. Mary Vianney, MSSR and Sr. Caritas Marie, MSSR. Heaven was rejoicing as Jesus gained two beautiful brides for eternity. Join us in rejoicing with the angels and thanking God for His abundant blessings! Perpetual Profession SlideshowAs we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King (OF) immediately following the Perpetual Profession of Vows of our two Sisters, we reflect gratefully on His Kingship in our lives as His spouses.
"We sit at the School of Mary as she teaches us in the Rosary to contemplate
the beauty of the face of Christ, to experience the depths of His love, and to draw down the specific graces of each mystery here and now upon Christ’s living members, most especially our Holy Father." - MSSR Constitutions As the Sisters are about their respective duties behind closed doors - in the refectory, kitchen or chapel - they may periodically hear, "scratch .... scratch, scratch, scratch." This familiar sound is our little dog's attempt at communicating with the Sisters on the other side of the door. It usually means one of two things: "I'd like to come in" or "I'd like to see what's on the other side."
With great joy, we welcomed new sisters into our religious community on Thursday, the Feast of the Transfiguration.
"Let us pray ... to Our Lord Jesus Christ for these His handmaids .... that He may grant them His Holy Spirit, Who will preserve them in holy resolution of religion, protect their hearts from the hindrances of the world and secular desires, so that, as they undergo an exterior transformation, they may be transformed likewise in spirit by the interior workings of the right hand of the Most High, and that just as they are delivered from all spiritual blindness, so may they be completely filled with the light of eternal grace." Prayer Before the Investiture of Novices The month of May is full of feasts and joyous occasions for both Holy Mother Church and for our Marian community, and this final day of the month is no exception. Today, during this particular liturgical year, falls the Feast of Pentecost, but as it is also May 31, the Church celebrates the Visitation (Ordinary Form Calendar) and the Coronation of Mary as Queen and Virgin (Extraordinary Form Calendar). What better day, then, to have the clothing ceremony of our Postulants as they are accepted into the novitiate as Novices of the Marian Sisters of Santa Rosa.
"God our Father gives us the grace to persevere in our resolutions.
Let us pray to Him for these handmaids of His who are resolved to new their vows today in the presence of the Church." - Blessing for Renewal of Vows "Courage, dearest daughter. You are now laid in spirit on the Altar, there to be offered in sacrifice and slain; nay, more, to be consumed as a holocaust in the sight of the living God."
